The Cape West Coast
Tranquility sets the tone of the West Coast.
White granite rocks, a cobalt sea and bright fishing boats greet you on arrival.
Here splendid homes blend seamlessly into the environment, while manicured gardens, fairways and green belts all add to an unprecedented lifestyle. Shelley Point offers the perfect retreat from the city where quaint village meets modern living.
Situated at Shelley Point Private Peninsula Village you will find a wide range of activities, such as fine restaurants, a Country Club & Spa, Boutiques and a Links Golf Course on a 24hr Security Estate
On 7 November 1497, the Portuguese explorer Vasco da Gama discovered St Helena Bay, during his pioneer voyage from Europe to India. He named the bay after Saint Helena, a devout, influential Christian and mother of Roman Emperor Constantine the Great. A museum has been erected on Shelley Point in celebration of his discoveries.
Today St Helena Bay is one of the world's key fishing centres thanks to the cold Benguela current, which surges upwards along this part of the coast and brings nutrient rich waters to the bay, resulting in an abundant sea life. The harbour is a bustle of activity, especially in winter when snoek are caught and the fish is sold straight off the boats.
This setting, combined with the tranquility and relaxed atmosphere of West Coast living has led to the area experiencing a phenomenal property boom. Investors who have invested in this oasis are reaping the benefits and will continue to do so for time to come. Not surprising when you consider the lifestyle it has to offer and compared to the East coast, property here is still affordable on this relatively undiscovered coastline.
